MUSTANG (2015)

Mustang (2015): The Turkish Movie is the directorial debut of Deniz Gamze Erguven. It was nominated for Oscars and it won 35 awards across the world. It is a French-German-Turkish co-production. Surprisingly its nomination for the Best Foreign Language Film is from France, not Turkey. Voiceover of Lale (Günes Sensoy) opens the film. Lale with her older sisters, Sonay (Ilayda Akdogan), Selma (Tugba Sunguroglu), Ece (Elit Iscan),  and Nur (Doga Zeynep Doguslu) is about to board a bus after the closing term of school but they decide to walk.  All the girlsClick for more

It is a Bollywood movie with the contemporary political social struggle of common man. The idea was to highlight the level of corruption in the Indian politics and the rage of a common man against the system. The main attraction is obviously Irrfan. The script is patchy. A movie where you need a lot of patience but in the end it does not reward you. A good issue wasted with dreadful direction. Director: Nishikant Kamat Star Cast: Irrfan, Jimmy Sheirgill, Vishesh Bansal Language: Hindi My Opinion Nishikant Kamat is aClick for more

Two of my prejudices are smashed, Alia Bhatt is making a wise selection of movies and Shahid Kapoor can look like a man. This is a first movieClick for more

At that juncture, awareness about the controversies and fatwa followed him regarding The Satanic Verses (1988). That was a phase I didn’t read him at all. He received a death threat for crude and upsetting depiction of Muhammad in The Satanic Verses. They call it ‘Blasphemy’. The death threat was issued by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, a religious leader ofClick for more

A couple of movies; some alone, few together. He began watching You Have Got Mail (1998) slept within 20 minutes, I watched it alone again, whereas He watched Colonia (2016). Children of Heaven (1997): Iranian moviemakers are one of the powerful and talented artists. It is the first Iranian film to receive a nomination for an Academy Award. Director Majid Majidi has done near perfection job. It is sweet enough to bring back childlike innocence. Check subtitles. Watch. Watch. Watch. Parzania (2007): An Indian movie. It might be technically weak;Click for more
